Coaching Terms & Conditions

About these terms

By paying for or starting any Advantage Fitness coaching, you agree to these terms.

"Advantage Fitness", "we" and "us" mean Chris Manning, trading as Advantage Fitness, Wellington, New Zealand, and your coach, Chris. "You" means the client. Please read these terms together with our Privacy Policy.

These terms cover:

You must be 18 or older to sign up. Clients aged 16–17 may join with written consent from a parent or guardian.

Health and safety

Your safety comes first, so you must tell us about any health issues before you start and whenever they change.

  1. Health screening. Before coaching starts, you will complete a health questionnaire. Answer it honestly and fully, including injuries, medical conditions, medications and pregnancy.
  2. Medical clearance. If your answers suggest a risk, we may ask you to get clearance from your doctor or physio before training. We may decline or pause coaching until you do.
  3. Coaching is not medical advice. We are fitness professionals, not doctors, dietitians or physiotherapists. Nutrition and supplement guidance is general, for healthy adults, and does not diagnose or treat any condition. Talk to your doctor before making major changes if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or take medication.
  4. Train within your limits. Online coaching means you train without us watching in person. Warm up, use safe technique, check your equipment and environment, and stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, chest pain or shortness of breath. Seek medical help if needed, and tell us.
  5. Keep us updated. Tell us about any new injury, illness or change in your health so we can adjust your program.

Plans, payments and pricing

Coaching is priced per week and billed monthly in advance.

Cancelling, pausing and refunds

You commit to the full plan length you choose, but you can pause for illness or injury and leave early on fair terms.

Situation What happens
Change of mind in the first 3 days Full refund of payments made, as long as coaching has not substantially started
Leaving a plan early Give 2 weeks' notice by email. You pay for the notice period plus an early-exit fee of 25% of the payments remaining on your plan after the notice period, capped at $200
Illness, injury or pregnancy Pause for up to 4 weeks per plan,. Your end date moves back to match
Holidays Pause for up to 2 weeks per plan with 1 week's notice, or ask for a travel program instead
Community Tier Billed monthly in advance. Cancel any time with 14 days' notice before your next billing date. You keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. No refunds for part-months
In-person sessions Cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours' notice, or the session is charged in full

We may end coaching early if you breach these terms, are abusive, or it becomes unsafe to coach you. If we end coaching for a reason that isn't your fault, we will refund any payments for coaching not yet delivered.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Our progress guarantee

If you follow the program, check in weekly and communicate honestly, and still don't make progress, we will keep coaching you free of charge until you do.

To qualify, during your plan you must have:

"Progress" means a measurable improvement in at least one of the goals agreed at the start, such as body measurements, weight, strength, fitness or a habit target. Free coaching under the guarantee is at the same tier, for up to the length of your original plan. The guarantee does not include a cash refund, and it doesn't apply to the Community Tier.

Community, results and responsibility

Community group rules. Be respectful and supportive. No bullying, body-shaming, spam, selling or sharing other members' posts or photos outside the group. We may remove posts or members who break these rules, without a refund for the current week.

Results. Results depend on your effort, consistency, health, sleep, stress and genetics, so we can't promise specific results, such as a set amount of weight lost. Before-and-after photos and testimonials show individual experiences, not typical or guaranteed outcomes. Our progress guarantee is set out above.

Our responsibility. We will deliver coaching with reasonable care and skill. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for injury, illness or loss caused by not following our guidance, not telling us about a health condition, unsafe equipment or surroundings, or training outside your program. If we are found responsible, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 3 months before the claim. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any liability that cannot be excluded by law. In New Zealand, personal injuries may also be covered by ACC.

Program content. Programs, videos, guides and recipes we provide are for your personal use only. Please don't share, resell or post them publicly.

Changes, law and contact

Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. We will give current clients at least 14 days' notice by email. Changes won't increase the price or reduce the features of a plan you have already paid for.

New Zealand law. These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
